If you are exploring this brand for the first time, you may be wondering, “Where is ZYIA Active Made?” I’m here to help!
Where is ZYIA made?
Erin Bradley, our CEO, shares in interviews that overseas manufacturing is done in Hong Kong and China. It is rumored to be shared with different boutique activewear brands such as Curves N Combatboots and Lululemon, for instance.
The specifics of exactly who shares the production facility can’t be confirmed because of privacy and regulations. In other words, we’d get a big fat fine if we went on record.
This is also why we can’t share photos of the manufacturing facilities themselves.
Privacy regulations aside, if it came from the exact same manufacturing line, why would somebody pay $68 for a Lululemon Sun Setter sports bra when the ZYIA All Star is $49?
If it sounds like I’m being salty, I’m not! It’s a serious question after one compares the fabric blends of the entire line and knows those rumors!
What are the relationships like?
The ZYIA Active executive team makes frequent trips overseas to check factory conditions firsthand. We also have private investors who live overseas and can drop in anytime to spot check factory working conditions.
In a recent episode of the Run Lift Mom podcast our CEO talks about the need to break contracts with past manufacturers in order to achieve the quality standard we follow, which is commonly referred to in the apparel industry as AQL, which means acceptable quality level.
Where is the USA involved?
ZYIA Active’s AQL is 1.5, meaning we allow for 1.5% defects from our manufacturers.
Anything above 1.5%? That batch doesn’t make it to the USA, where ZYIA headquarters warehouse, customer service, and operations staff in Utah.
It’s important to note ZYIA requires additional hand checks of items.
First, this additional hand check is done in a batch sample prior to the entire lot being made. We do this to ensure the pattern used is functionally sound and the fabric blends pass our standards test. For example, a flat seam is useless and will chafe if placed incorrectly.
Second, our pieces are tested again in a full lot spot check. At this point, it has been tested thoroughly overseas- that’s where that 1.5% comes in. However, we do this as extra in our Utah headquarters to ensure quality.
What if you get a defect?
ZYIA Active stands by quality, period. Should you receive a defective piece, simply reach out to the rep you bought from. You’ll get a brand new item if you bring it to our attention within a reasonable timeline.
In a worst case scenario, our customer service team will provide a gift card as an “I’m sorry” if you bring it to our attention after the window has closed.
It actually works very similar to returns (we provide a label, you send to Utah- outlined below) though sometimes we’ll just tell you to trash or donate the defective item.
This job is not for everyone- it’s just not. If it is for you, though? Changing leggings could change your life.
