What do you do when you need an easy Halloween costume? DIY!

Here’s how to use activewear in your DIY Halloween Costume- a follow up to last year’s article about running in costume.

Real talk: just look in your closet. That’s right—in many cases, you don’t have to spend a single dollar to come up with a creative costume.

Simply pull together your look by putting your activewear to work and combining a few pieces likely already at your house or an Amazon order away.

Mummy

Samantha goes ALL OUT for Halloween and was a doll to allow me to share her photos!

Dressing up as an ancient mummy is a cool DIY Halloween costume for a Mom (get it? Mommy Mummy), and for good reason!

Samantha, fellow military spouse, ZYIA rep, and Mom of littles, used the stay gold leggings for her mummy costume.

Here’s what you need:

  • white top
  • white pants (stay gold leggings are fun!)
  • toilet paper, white bandages, or long strips of an old white cotton t shirt

80s Aerobics Instructor

My pal Cara owns an abundance mindset- permission to use her photos here is an example!

Get out the sweatband, crimper, blue eye shadow, & Billy Idol!

This is a great DIY Halloween costume for any fitness enthusiast. You may have the actual goods (to include purple ascend leggings!) like my friend Cara from ZYIA Yoga Girl…but no worries if not.

Here’s how to DIY like my pal Erin:

  • One piece bathing suit (optional) as a leotard
  • Leggings (bonus for neon colors!)
  • Oversized t-shirt, cut for off shoulder
  • High socks, cut at the foot to make leg warmers
Bold Brooke is wearing a hot pink Bomber Bra & her makeup is totally rad!

Zombie

Samantha‘s at it again!

There’s nothing easier than a Zombie if you’re willing to rip up your clothes and get creative with makeup. In the photo below, I put leggings under a sequined dress so I could run comfortably and rip haphazardly!

I didn’t discuss zombie as an idea for pregnant women on the podcast because, quite honestly, it freaked too many people out when I did it myself!

My pal Cara demonstrates a fun complementary costume- zombie HUNTER!

Super Hero

The thing is, you’ll envision the woman below but you’ll probably end up looking more like my friend Lisa (above) which is a total compliment- her costume was functional and easy to create with boy short style shorts over red leggings!

Queen Essence from Trolls

Y’all, I can’t even with this one. It’s just too cool. I’ll update Rachel’s photos when she adds makeup and lashes- this was just the initial try on with the blue metallic leggings!

Ballerina

My pal Cara is at it again!

Black Cat

It doesn’t get any more simple- you can either buy a ear and tail set on Amazon or make it yourself.

Here’s what else you need:

Psssst- Brooke has done an entire blog article on Halloween makeup if you want to do a dressed up face and just roll with normal clothes on bottom, here’s your sign.

Basic Witch

Here’s another one you can do with simple black leggings and some accessories (homemade or otherwise!).

This witch isn’t so basic, but neither is Cara

Fairy

Here’s the thing about this one, which can be done with dollar store wings. This is what you’ll aim for:

This is what you’ll get:

Yes, I let my kids paint my face. Whatever, man.

Golden Girls

If I’m locally famous for anything, it’s this DIY Halloween costume. We had running short and leggings underneath but if I had a do over there is no way I’d have run in that wig!

The polyester suit dress was shockingly breathable but that wig, y’all. Woof. It should be noted that we all stayed in character for the majority of the race, which was 13.1 miles.

Bride

Cara (coolest Yogi ever!) used her actual wedding veil for this!

Cheshire Cat

The only reason I’m showing you this one is because many of my customers bought these ombre stripe leggings. To be fair, they’re still around in size 0 so maybe your teenager wants a shot at the title.

Happy Halloween from the Goodwin family!

This year, our kids are Hamilton obsessed so we are going with King George, Alexander Hamilton, George Washington, and Eliza Schuyler Hamilton. I’ll share and take photos over on Instagram!

In the meantime, here are some blasts from the past:

These costumes incorporated reflective leggings and red Light n Tight leggings. 100 gold stars if you know what either of them are!
